Marrying your high school sweetheart has a number of benefits - the most obviously being that you can determine "the rules of engagement" at a very young age and before bad habits develop. In our relationship of 31 years one such a rule is that we carry our own luggage whenever we go on holiday. This reduces any stress caused by the over-indulgence in shops and the resultant heavy luggage which must usually be carried by the dominant male in the partnership.
In July 2008 we were fortunate to celebrate my wife's birthday with a fantastic weekend visit to the Twelve Apostles in Cape Town. Arriving home I made a cardinal mistake by breaking one of my own rules. Lifting her suitcase from our car and turning at the same time resulted in a severe pain in my back. I was almost immediately unable to walk and delirious with pain. I could hardly sleep that night and early Monday morning she managed to book an emergency treatment with a local chiropractor.
I have subsequently come to understand that chiropractors specialize in aggravating back injuries and after five visits and x-rays, I was desperate for relief. In an effort to avoid a midlife crisis I had made myself available to crew a yacht from France to Namibia and with the departure date merely a week away I was starting to sense that I was going to have to deal with my midlife crises on solid ground.
My wife is an artist and a very creative person. Unlike us accountant types she believes in a number of fuzzy "sciences" which I frown upon as solid evidence proving the basis of these theories are normally lacking. And solid proof and accountants somehow go together. But I was desperate and when she suggested a visit to Adelé Green I accepted the offer without any resistance.
To say the least my first and only meeting with Adelé was astonishing. We talked at length about her work and about my relationship with my wife, the importance of family and my (hopefully) impeding sailing trip. She also preformed that side of her discipline which I previously described as fuzzy and explained to me the power of the mind. After our session my back pain had completely disappeared and I was, to say the least, flabbergasted. A week later I was carrying the groceries for our trip along the quay to our yacht and only afterwards realized that I had no problem with my lower back.
I refer to Adelé as one of my wife's wizard friends due to the miracle she staged in my life. During our session she explained to me that the human brain is an extremely powerful tool and one which we hardly ever use to capacity. I can certainly recommend Adelé as the key to unlock the potential of the brain. And besides the magic stuff, I think Adelé is a great friend to talk to and I suspect a number of her regular clients visit her just for a regular chat. Thank you Adelé for helping me keep my appointment with the yacht. I believe you said you could also cure my occasional golf hook and I look forward to our next session! |
